We are proud to be an approved assessment centre by the Vocational Training Charitable Trust (VTCT) which is a Government approved Awarding Body offering National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) and other Vocationally Related Qualifications (VRQs).
Regulated by QCA (Qualifications and Curriculum Authority) it has been in existence in one form or another for over forty years and as one of the largest providers of qualifications in massage, aromatherapy and reflexology it has been at the forefront of developing the vocational system of qualifications in the United Kingdom. Remaining specialised in the areas of Beauty Therapy, Hairdressing, Holistic & Complementary Therapies and Sports & Fitness has enabled this charity to gain an experienced team.
A recent survey has found that more than two thirds of British people believe that complementary therapies can be as valid as conventional treatment and it is estimated that in Britain £130 million a year is spent on alternative therapies, such as acupuncture and reflexology, and that is expected to rise by £70 million over the next four years. This is evidence that this sector of the market is growing rapidly and new qualifications for skills such as Reiki, Holistic Colour Therapy and Holistic Crystal Therapy have been added.
For more detailed information please download the VTCT Candidates Handbook provided by VTCT or visit their website www.vtct.org.uk.
The way that qualifications are organised and structured is changing and this includes all vocational qualifications. The Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) is a government initiative across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The QCF is a new flexible way of recognising and rewarding skills and qualifications. The QCF will present units and qualifications in a simpler way and it will lead to qualifications that are flexible and meet the skills and knowledge needs of the workforce. For more information visit www.qcda.gov.uk.
In response to these changes, we have installed our new Course Management System (CMS) Moodle, also known as a Learning Management System (LMS) or a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) which will allow both tutors and students to structure their teachings and learning.
VTCT professional qualifications are achieved when students become competent in the completion of modules following criteria set by VTCT and recording competencies in their Record of Assessment Books provided upon registration. Students work through the comprehensive learning materials, complete their portfolio and case studies, in addition to practical and theoretical assessments carried out at our centre. In addition to all practical skills provided at the centre, students will be expected to complete homestudy assignments, returning to the centre after their case studies and portfolio have been completed for a final assessment. Successful completion of all the necessary requirements will achieve an internationally recognised qualification, IIHHT, IIST, IHBC and NVQ through the awarding body VTCT which enables students to gain internationally recognised insurance cover. After successful completion of a course, students will also have the opportunity to join industry regulated associations such as the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and the Guild of Holistic Therapists (GHT).
The National Database of Accredited Qualifications (NDAQ) contains details of qualifications that are accredited by the regulators of external qualifications in England (Ofqual), Wales (DCELLS) and Northern Ireland (CCEA). To view all the QCF qualifications offered by VTCT please visit the NDAQ website. In addition to QCF qualifications VTCT also offers its own Vocationally Related Qualifications (VRQs), which are assessed to competence standards similar to QCF qualifications, but tend to cover more specialised areas. These include Holistic Colour Therapy, Holistic Crystal Therapy, Reiki and Flower Essences, the areas that we as an approved VTCT Assessment Centre specialise in.
Students who have registered with another training centre but wish to finish their VTCT qualification with Chrysalis Therapy Training will be able to do so as long as they complete all work within the required 3 year time frame. Students will not be required to re-register, but it will be necessary for us to review their portfolio and evaluate their theoretical and practical skills. They may also be required to do one or more practical assessments and additional written work in order to ensure that all VTCT criteria have been met in order to obtain their certificate or diploma. If it has been over 3 years, students will need to re-register with Chrysalis Therapy Training and may be required to undergo further tuition, written work, case studies and assessments to ensure that their skills are current and meet all of the VTCT requirements. There is a fee of £50 plus any appropriate VTCT Registration, Certification and course fees payable for students wanting to transfer to Chrysalis Therapy Training to finish their studies. If you have any questions or would like further information or advice, please contact enquiries@chrysalistherapytraining.co.uk.
