Course duration: Practical elements are covered over 4 days attendance at our centre 9.30am – 5.30pm. Theory elements are covered by homestudy, typically over 3 to 12 months plus 3 final assessments and a written exam to be carried out at our centre.
Course description: The origin of Reiki lies in the work of Dr Mikao Usui and the treatment based upon Buddhist teachings. Reiki is taught by a Reiki Master but critical aspects of the qualification are to provide a regularised format to credit training for a practitioner of Reiki therapy. The treatment consists of having the client in a comfortable position, whether lying down or sitting in a comfortable chair and then placing the hands over relevant body areas. This course covers practical and theory elements relating to levels 1 and 2 of the Western branch of Reiki, Usui Shiki Reiki.
What will I learn? The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Reiki (QCF) will enable you to use the principles of Reiki on yourself and others. You will learn about the origins of Reiki and gain an understanding of Reiki practices, including the laying of hands and the promotion of self healing through ‘life energy’ or the ‘spiritual life force’. You will learn to reflect on the outcomes of treatments, and offer a series of treatments to achieve a desirable result. Aspects of business studies are also included.
National Occupational Standards (NOS): Units in this qualification have been mapped to the relevant NOS (where applicable). This qualification is accredited on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). This qualification is approved and supported by Skills for Health, the sector skills council for health.

What are the course requirements? It is recommended that you have a level of general education comparable to GCSEs. You should have a caring disposition and be committed to fulfilling the in-class and guided home study components of the course. To enrol on this course you must attend an enrolment interview either in person meeting the course tutor, or via telephone/Skype. You must meet the required Guided learning Hours (GLH) by attending our centre and by attending classes in our Virtual Learning Environment, online meetings and reviews with your tutor and assessor via Moodle. Students who have already achieved Reiki Level I training with someone other than Chrysalis Therapy Training will be required to provide their Reiki Level I training manual, lineage, certificate and speak with the course tutor prior to the course to ascertain their level of knowledge.
Case studies – For Unit H/600/7567 – Provide Reiki you must carry out and document evidence for at least 8 treatments. For Unit D/600/7566 – Reflective Practice for Reiki you must carry out and document evidence for at least 12 treatments. Each case study must include a client questionnaire, lifestyle assessment, consent form, consultation record, treatment record, after care advice and client feedback.
How will I be assessed? This qualification requires the student to provide evidence of competence in the form of case studies or individual treatments to cover range statements, demonstrate sufficient knowledge to be able to explain Reiki and provide it safely, effectively and consistently.
Independent study is an essential part of this course and you will be required to complete both practical and theoretical assignments at home. Assessments will take place during the course and again when all your case studies and Portfolio of Evidence is completed.
