Course duration: Practical elements are covered over 5 days attendance at our centre 9.30am – 5.30pm. Theory elements are covered by homestudy, typically over 3 to 12 months plus 3 final assessments and a written exam to be carried out at our centre.
Course description: Reflexology involves various techniques to massage reflex areas found in the feet, which correspond to all the parts of the body. They are arranged in such a way as to form a map of the body, enabling the skilled practitioner to treat the whole body via these reflex areas. The treatment is primarily used for the stimulation of systems and relaxation and the technique is frequently provided by Health Service personnel as an extra skill, particularly in its role of comforting and supporting terminally ill patients.
What will I learn? The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology (QCF) provides you with knowledge of the principles of reflexology, and how reflexologists practice. You will learn health, safety and hygiene, human anatomy, physiology and pathology, how to prepare the treatment area, yourself and your client, you will demonstrate competence in dealing with clients, using consultation techniques, using information for planning treatments. You will learn the benefits and techniques of reflexology and be able to provide treatments safely and effectively to clients in different circumstances. You will learn to reflect on the outcomes of treatments, and offer a series of treatments to achieve a desirable result. Aspects of business studies are also included.
National Occupational Standards (NOS): Units in this qualification have been mapped to the relevant NOS (where applicable). This qualification is accredited on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). This qualification is approved and supported by Skills for Health, the sector skills council for health.

What are the course requirements? It is recommended that you have a level of general education comparable to GCSEs. You should have a caring disposition and be committed to fulfilling the in-class and guided home study components of the course. To enrol on this course you must attend an enrolment interview either in person meeting the course tutor, or via telephone/Skype. You must meet the required Guided learning Hours (GLH) by attending our centre and by attending classes in our Virtual Learning Environment, online meetings and reviews with your tutor and assessor via Moodle.
Case studies – For Unit UC30329 – Provide Reflexology you must carry out and document evidence for at least 60 treatments. For Unit C30330 – Reflective Practice for Reflexology you must carry out and document evidence for at least 40 treatments. Each case study must include a client questionnaire, lifestyle assessment, consent form, consultation record, treatment record, after care advice and client feedback.
How will I be assessed? This qualification requires the student to provide evidence of competence in the form of case studies or individual treatments to cover range statements, demonstrate sufficient knowledge to be able to explain Reflexology and provide it safely, effectively and consistently.
Independent study is an essential part of this course and you will be required to complete both practical and theoretical assignments at home. Assessments will take place during the course and again when all your case studies and Portfolio of Evidence is completed.
