Course description: Knowledge and understanding of anatomy, physiology and common pathology of the human body. This qualification can lead to further learning of anatomy, physiology and pathology. It can be the underpinning knowledge for complementary therapy qualifications and can lead to other learning, foundation degrees and degrees. The tutorials for this course are delivered online. We will send an e-mail to you containing your login details so that you can access these tutorials. Once you have completed all the tutorials you will be required complete written assignments, to be submitted as part of your Portfolio of Evidence and attend our approved assessment centre to sit a final assessment, a written test paper.

What will I learn? The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology (QCF) provides you with knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the human body including structure and functions of the skin, hair, nails, skeleton, muscles, nerves, circulatory and lymphatic systems, endocrine and respiratory systems, digestive, urinary and reproductive systems. This knowledge allows identification of key factors of a healthy body. Common diseases and disorders are included in order to identify conditions which might restrict or contraindicate complementary therapy treatments, and to assist in planning the most appropriate treatment.

National Occupational Standards (NOS): Units in this qualification have been mapped to the relevant NOS (where applicable). This qualification is accredited on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). This qualification is approved and supported by Skills for Health, the sector skills council for health.

D/501/9111- Knowledge of less common pathology for complementary therapies

What are the course requirements? It is recommended that you have a level of general education comparable to GCSEs. You should be committed to fulfilling the guided home study components of the course. To enrol on this course you must attend an enrolment interview either in person meeting the course tutor, or via telephone/Skype. You must meet the required Guided learning Hours (GLH) by accessing the online tutorials and by attending classes in our Virtual Learning Environment, online meetings and reviews with your tutor and assessor via Moodle. The tutorials are delivered by Essential Training Solutions, an online learning specialist and approved VTCT Assessment Centre who supply e-learning, CD ROMs and Study Manuals. Please note that to access the tutorials online there is a minimum system requirement as set out below:

How will I be assessed? Once you have completed all the tutorials you will be required to complete written assignments, to be submitted as part of your Portfolio of Evidence and attend our approved assessment centre to sit a final assessment, a 1 hour written test paper.

Unit assessment methods: Coursework, E-assessment, Multiple Choice Examination, Portfolio of Evidence, Practical Demonstrations and Assignments.
